The AEF has been a leading force in empowering the next generation of advertisers and marketers. I was so excited to learn about the opportunities to both “teach the teachers” and directly work with students to help them learn about an emerging part of the marketing universe. As someone who comes from a family of educators, the idea of giving professionals the opportunity to impact student skill development was incredibly appealing and has been so rewarding.
”Lift as you climb” – always look for ways to empower others as you grow your career. We all start somewhere and have people and mentors who help us along the way – it’s important to pay that forward.
My favorite college professor was Ken Strong – he was the professor of the very first class I took in college, and the speaker at the final event we had my senior year. He began every class by playing the song “Once in a Lifetime” by the Talking Heads and encouraging everyone to get out of their seat (and out of their comfort zone). He encouraged each of us to find our confidence in a crowd – but also never forget to have fun.
My job is founded on the idea of ”strategic generosity” – which means I have the ability to do what I love in the service of others. This allows me to have a true partnership and shared goal with the advertisers I get to work with every day.
