We have been longtime partners of the ANA, and when we learned about the AEF initiatives, it lined up perfectly with our goals at A+E Networks and the sales team. Personally, I love to mentor and pass on whatever knowledge I can to the next generation. Especially in the later stages of your career, there’s nothing more rewarding than helping to set up others for success… and I’m very excited to see where the next generation takes our (advertising) industry.
Advertising, marketing, and media are all changing so quickly, but the changes all are all bringing exciting new opportunities… Whether it’s more inclusive storytelling or more insightful research and data, there’s an exciting new world to explore – and create – for this next generation of leaders.
Listen. Whether it’s your clients or your colleagues. Relationships and productive working environments require understanding – and that starts, and ends, with listening. Whether it’s through words or behaviors. Your clients, your consumers, your colleagues are showing you what they want or need to succeed.
I count myself lucky to have found creative and challenging job in my career. Any success I have had has been made better by being in positive and accepting work in environments if there’s anyway, I can clear the path and help encourage more inclusivity for the next generation coming up in media, I am honored to do so.
The diversity of the challenges… And the people. Ability to learn and solve different kinds of problems for clients (and colleagues) makes my job fun… And rewarding every day.
I often tell students… Study anything that you are passionate about. I believe it’s less about the specific subject matter than honing your ability to think critically and make strong and pervasive arguments. If you can do that, you have the basis for a successful career. And writing! Again, the ability to express yourself and your ideas clearly and persuasively will serve you well in almost any job.
Follow your passions… Look for opportunities that engage your curiosity and hold your attention. Don’t be afraid to ask questions …and have some fun along the way.
