What prompted you to get involved with the AEF and why are you passionate about the future of the industry?

When I was nominated by a former colleague, I approached the involvement with AEF with cautious optimism and it turned out to be a terrific decision. As a long-standing marketer, I am passionate about the notion of continuous learning and building capability across teams to handle the dynamic times we live in. AEF has given me so much insight into what our peers are doing and the opportunity to freely share ideas, best practices and thoughts has been truly worthwhile. The future is bright indeed especially when I see the collective commitment.

What is the best career advice you've ever received?

Growing up and working in a booming economy like India, life (and work) was one endless race. The best advice were built around 3 dimensions:
-Focus on the longer term goal while celebrating short-term wins
-Execution is everything and be prepared to roll up your sleeves while ensuring it
-Passion matters: if your heart isn’t in it… you are in the wrong place

Who was your favorite professor and why?

In my business school days, it was a Prof who taught us HR: he just had an amazing style of teaching combined with tons of poise and the ability to mesh with the students outside of class too. Plus it helped he knew his stuff.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Firstly I love my company, the brands we sell and the people that I have worked with for 23 years. My current job is very special because it allows me to add value to the broader marketing community at PepsiCo as we build end to end capability in our teams and bring in a “PepsiCo Way of Marketing”. I feel even more connected to our brands and the consumers we serve, but through connecting with people who create all the great work. It also helps that I get to learn all the time!

"Our future marketing and advertising leaders are not just looking for a job, they are looking for a meaningful career that will make a positive impact on society."
