What prompted you to get involved with the AEF and why are you passionate about the future of the industry?

There has been a long-standing relationship with the AEF and my agency. When I joined the industry back in 2006 I was told that the AEF is one of the premiere organizations that I need to partner with in order to reach the variety of talent from different communities coming into the industry. It still stands true to this day.

What is the best career advice you've ever received?

Never stop learning. Always ask questions even if you think you know the answer.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

In college I didn’t have a favorite professor. I have several favorite industry leaders. One who stands out is Carter Murray. He was one of the first C-Suite leaders to show me that being honest with who you are and showing compassion is key to being a successful leader.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy supporting staff across the different levels, from junior to senior. I am the leader who wants others to feel supported; I am also a connector wherever I can be most helpful in helping talent get access to opportunities.

"Our future marketing and advertising leaders are not just looking for a job, they are looking for a meaningful career that will make a positive impact on society."
— Gord McLean, President and CEO at ANA Educational Foundation
