He was at the forefront of the digital marketing revolution 10 years ago, leading development of some of the first attribution models, personalized targeting approaches and use of programmatic advertising.

What prompted you to get involved with the AEF and why are you passionate about the future of the industry?

I believe in enabling and developing the future. Data + Insights is my vocation; teaching is my passion. Helping young passionate marketers become something better has been something that I’ve been part of while at school, at work or in my spare time.

What is the best career advice you've ever received?

I would break this into 2 part advice – best career advice – make your boss look good. Best personal development advice – learn as much as you can. Learn from your mistakes (best learning comes from that).

Who was your favorite professor and why?

Atle Gjelsvik – My civil engineering professor and advisor. He taught me to find a solution to the problem at hand – not a big, hypothetical story/overview that is created to ‘package’ the problem. The solution is much simpler for the problem than for the package.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

It’s the engineer inside – seeing what you have planned and worked for actually being created and built. Close second – helping others do what they need to do easier.

"Our future marketing and advertising leaders are not just looking for a job, they are looking for a meaningful career that will make a positive impact on society."
— Gord McLean, President and CEO at ANA Educational Foundation
