What prompted you to get involved with the AEF?

VMLY&R has had a strong partnership with the AEF and when I came on board I was happy to keep that partnership up!

Why are you passionate about the future of the industry?

Advertising and Marketing has the power to change how we as consumers feel about causes, products, and movements. Having intersectional representation in the making of ads only means good things for the quality of the work.

What is the best career advice you've ever received?

Closed mouths don’t get fed! Advocating for yourself is the #1 way to get what you want.

Why do you feel it is so important to inspire the next generation of diverse talent?

I didn’t see anyone who looked like me at the beginning of my career that would have made my transition into advertising faster. Being a listening ear and support for young talent is something I cherish.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Making a difference, no matter how small. Working in DEI doesn’t always provide immediate results and that’s okay. Knowing that the work I do has the power to change minds and open doors for people is so rewarding.

What advice would you give to students as they consider entering the industry?

Network and make your interests clear. Be authentic and it goes a long way.

"Our future marketing and advertising leaders are not just looking for a job, they are looking for a meaningful career that will make a positive impact on society."
— Gord McLean, President and CEO at ANA Educational Foundation
