My involvement with AEF is via AIMM’s partnering work on Talent, specifically early careerists. Through the AIMM Talent Committee, I am able to learn more about and support the next generation of Marketers and those in related fields. We have created a program, SafeSpace4Me to support diverse talent navigate transition from school to corporate. It has become my way to give back.
My passion for the future comes from being at the forefront of influencing change via the next generation. AEF is engaging our next generation of Marketers and those in related fields who are the future voices, creators, influencers and innovators of how we see and market to society. They will drive what is considered the norm, increase inclusivity at all levels, evolve the conversation of general vs. multicultural marketing, push for business diversity strategies and define equality in next gen innovation. You can’t tell me that’s exciting!
‘I reserve the right to get smarter’, is probably the best career advice received. It works on all levels, from how I engage as a manager, partnering with suppliers, deciding on my next role or negotiating my salary. With every experience I learn, evolve and do better. Ultimately, these learnings move me forward and make me more me!
I am at a stage of my career where I’m determining my legacy. As a strong believer in Each One Teach One, it is my hope that I am inspiring the next generation of diverse talent. It as my responsibility to reach back, pull someone up and pass forward what I know. I hope to make it a little easier for them than it was for me. That, I believe will be my legacy – helping the next generation navigate achieving their dreams.
My current role affords me the opportunity to help people learn, evolve and achieve their personal career goals. Whether it is as a Sn Director Global Sourcing, co-lead for the Finance Intern (FINtern) Program, supporting AEF & AIMM’s SafeSpace4Me sessions or time with mentees, each of these leadership roles affords me the opportunity to support the next gen of talent!
Goodness, so much, so outside of reserve the right to get smarter, keep an open mind – because where you start may not be where you end, so keep an open mind to opportunities, perspectives, people and more. You just might fall into a passion you didn’t know you had.
