Rhasheda Boyd
Vice President of Marketing
PepsiCo

With more than 20 years of experience in marketing, Rhasheda has demonstrated success in developing and leading integrated strategic marketing plans for prominent brands that have led to business growth. In her current role, Rhasheda is the vice president of marketing for the permissible portfolio at Frito-Lay, a division of PepsiCo, Inc. Leading this portfolio of nine brands such as Sun Chips, Popcorners, Rold Gold, Baked!, Stacy’s and Smartfood, she is responsible for the overall strategy, brand building and growth of the portfolio.

Rhasheda’s marketing career began after obtaining her MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. After graduating, she held various Marketing roles at Mondelez International, Kao Brands, and Susan G. Komen before joining PepsiCo, Inc.

Prior to marketing, Rhasheda worked in engineering at Ford Motor Company after receiving her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tuskegee University. Soon after starting at Ford, she quickly realized that understanding consumer motivations and building strategies to deliver against consumer insights was her passion. This passion led her to pursue her M.B.A. in Marketing.

Rhasheda is married to Jarvis Boyd and is a mother to 3 children – Jackson, London, and Quinn. In her spare time, she has been active in her community—volunteering with the Texas Women’s Foundation on their grant review committee and is a foodie at heart with a passion for cooking and exploring new restaurants.

What makes you passionate about the future of the marketing industry?

The constant evolution in the industry continues to fuel my passion. The rapid evolution of content from influencers/creators and AI is one area that excites me most because it’s reshaping how we connect with audiences, tell stories, and build brand loyalty. I’m particularly energized by how creators are redefining influence and authenticity, and how AI is unlocking new ways to personalize, scale, and measure impact. Both of these are disrupting how we communicate and drive awareness for our brands.

What is the most impactful career advice you've ever received?

Be open to the unexpected! We often map out our next move, believing we know what’s best for our careers. However, some of the most rewarding opportunities are the ones we never saw coming—roles that challenge us, sharpen our character, and ultimately propel us forward.

What is the most valuable skill students should have before they begin their career?

Having a mindset of growth and resilience. The workplace is constantly evolving, and those who enter their careers with curiosity and adaptability will stand out. A growth mindset fuels the drive to learn, ask questions, and explore new possibilities, while resilience ensures they can navigate change, handle setbacks, and keep moving forward.

What advice would you give to students who hope to make a meaningful impact as they enter the industry?

When you are beginning your career, your ability to demonstrate you can go above and beyond what is expected will set you apart faster than anything else. Find ways in your job where you can go the extra mile or take on extra projects – the rewards are worth it!
