Marketing is at the heart of customer success, satisfaction, and business growth. Customers have the power to make or break any company, and I’ve always viewed marketing not as a cost center, but as a vital growth engine. Over the past two decades, technology and data have continually transformed the marketing landscape—ushering in the era of data-driven marketing, mobile commerce, and digital media as foundational pillars.
Today, AI represents the next major evolution in this journey. I believe it will continue to blur the lines between marketing and commerce, creating seamless, intelligent customer experiences. I’m deeply excited about the opportunity to build and measure the impact of these innovations as we shape the future of marketing.
Your career is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. OgilvyOne’s former CEO, Brian Fetherstonhaugh, gave me some lasting advice to not see you career in just a 5 year view. Our first 5-10 years is all about learning our craft and becoming the best at it. the next 10-15 is where you ascend to where you want to be. If I had to give some advice from my side, I would also add that a good and rewarding career is not just dependent on your work and career but how you manage other aspects of your life as you grow higher and senior – health, finances, family.
One of the most lasting pieces of advice I received came from Brian Fetherstonhaugh, former CEO of OgilvyOne. He urged me not to view my career through the narrow lens of just five years. His perspective was simple yet profound: the first 5–10 years are about mastering your craft and building deep expertise. The next 10–15 years are when you rise, take leadership, and move toward the career path you envision.
If I were to offer some advice of my own, it would be this: a fulfilling and successful career isn’t shaped solely by your work achievements. As you grow in your professional journey—especially into senior roles—the ability to manage your health, finances, and personal relationships becomes just as critical. These are the foundations that sustain you over the long run and allow you to thrive, not just succeed.
Immerse yourself fully in your domain and not just in your swimlane. For example ,if you’re a marketer, invest time in learning how data and research shape decisions. If you’re a researcher, experiment with building a digital campaign to see how insights come to life in the real world. The broader and deeper your context, the more strategic and impactful you become. Just like AI, the more context you have, the smarter your actions will be.
Secondly, practice the art of writing ideas, shaping MVP and bringing it to life with your coworkers. Being an effective communicator helps you shape the vision of your work and others.
