What prompted you to get involved with the AEF?

Working in social media, I was always looking for the chance to connect with students who could make up the next group of talent to enter the industry. It felt like a great place to share my experience, but also potentially meet the people who could help shape the industry moving forward.

Why are you passionate about the future of the industry?

Continuing to see the connection between creativity, diversity of thought and culture and how that translates to new content trends. We are blessed to be in a golden age of creators and it’s exciting to see what inspires us all next.

What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?

There is a reason you have 2 ears and 1 mouth. Listen, absorb, process and problem solve accordingly. Learn from the people around you and don’t try to play hero ball.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Meeting and connecting with team members. I love the team aspect of what we do. There is a famous story of John F. Kennedy walking the halls of NASA in 1962, and he saw a janitor and asked what he did for NASA, he said “I’m helping to put a man on the moon.” Everyone on the team contributes in their own way and I love that about our industry.

What advice would you give to students as they consider entering the industry?

Take a chance on yourself. Trust your creative core. Take leaps, and don’t be afraid to fail. Your ideas will get killed, your thesis will be refuted, but at the end, you’ll be smarter, sharper and better prepared to connect and support your clients.

"Our future marketing and advertising leaders are not just looking for a job, they are looking for a meaningful career that will make a positive impact on society."
