Visiting Professor Program Fact Sheet
The AEF’s Visiting Professor Program (VPP) enhances professors’ understanding of the latest developments and practices in advertising and marketing to inform their teaching and research. Since its inception, 1,600+ professors have participated in the program.
Professor participants teach a variety of disciplines (e.g., marketing, communications, advertising, sociology, liberal arts). In addition, select Ph.D. students join professors during the VPP in collaboration with the American Academy of Advertising (AAA).

The 2026 VPP
The weeklong program will be held June 1-5 in New York City for 40-45 professors hosted by marketers, ad agencies and media companies. We also partner with The Center for Positive Marketing at Fordham University where we will convene for classroom workshops and presentations. The coveted in-person program is by application only and open to full-time professors with a terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., DBA) who teach in the US. Priority will be given to those professors who have not participated in the VPP in the last 5-10 years.
There will also be separate Virtual VPP opportunities throughout the year open to all professors. Calendar of virtual events coming soon.
Agenda
The theme of the 2026 VPP will be ‘Envisioning the Future of Marketing and Advertising’ and the curriculum will focus on the broader themes of Brand & Creativity, AI & Marketing Technology, Inclusion, Data & Measurement, and Media.
The VPP is a combination of interactive and experiential activities on-site at top companies together with presentations from industry leaders. Workshops provide the opportunity to work together to apply this learning to teaching and research and to build collaborations with fellow professors.
