What prompted you to get involved with the AEF?

I have always been open with sharing the lessons I’ve learned from my career and passionate about mentoring others, especially women of color. I want to ensure that I can do my best to open doors for others in the same manner that doors were opened for me.

Why are you passionate about the future of the industry?

I consider myself a futurist and marketing is an industry that changes daily, whether driven by technology or consumer sentiment. I’m motivated by that constant change and love being a part of the solution in how it impacts businesses and professional development.

What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Accept the opportunities that make sense to you based on your passion and your purpose – don’t chase every one and don’t settle for less.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Having the opportunity to shape a culture of continuous learning and set employees up for success now and into the future.

What advice would you give to students as they consider entering the industry?

The possibilities are endless and the industry is always changing. Use your early years to figure out what you are most passionate about and build your toolbox of skills, then go forward and build your own path.

"Our future marketing and advertising leaders are not just looking for a job, they are looking for a meaningful career that will make a positive impact on society."
— Gord McLean, President and CEO at ANA Educational Foundation
