What prompted you to get involved with the AEF?

I believe in giving back – I have had so many amazing mentors in my life so it’s important to pay it forward.

Why are you passionate about the future of the industry?

Watching the industry transform over the past year: with the pandemic forcing new ways of working and the protests last year awakening new understanding of diversity and inclusion, I think the industry is primed for new thinking and thinkers to drive amazing new work and opportunities.

What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?

You are not your consumer. Meaning, you have to take an objective approach to making decisions versus solely relying on instinct.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love connecting with people and helping them figure out how technology can make their lives easier and their work more effective.

What advice would you give to students as they consider entering the industry?

Never stop being a student. Reverse engineer campaigns you see or products you love. Why did they decide to make it this way? What was the intent behind this piece of communication? Doing that will help you stay ahead.

"Our future marketing and advertising leaders are not just looking for a job, they are looking for a meaningful career that will make a positive impact on society."
— Gord McLean, President and CEO at ANA Educational Foundation
